A very beautiful concert last night Ryedale Festival from Donald Grant and a great band in the rather lovely acoustic of St Peter’s Church Norton. His new work ‘The Night Overtook Us’ was made for this venue at this time. Discoveries like this make festivals special.

We are sorry to hear of the death of dear Amelia Freedman CBE. Amelia founded national treasure the Nash Ensemble in 1964, directing it the rest of her life, amid much else she did for music. She received RPS Honorary Membership last year recognising her luminous achievements.

RIP Amelia. 'I’ve always stuck to my guns and I think it’s very important that you do that...You go with what you believe in.'
