This may sound extreme, but I doubt if there is a truly “clean” city or even a 1000 metre stretch of urban India without garbage, plastic, building debris or excreta. Slogans had raised fond hopes but India’s waste challenge needs political will, huge funds & a changed mindset.

A basic flaw in our waste management strategy is that sanitation workers start functioning only by late morning, in midst of traffic/pedestrian interference. Universally, garbage collection & road cleaning activities are completed in early hours before the public wakes up.
