Some mock research that seems obscure, like studying the wing of a fly. Some claim that science is unreliable because scientists change their minds. Some fault science for not providing immediate answers. But these criticisms all stem from misunderstandings of how science works.

The boomer in me resisted sending emails and editing docs on my phone but getting over it made me way more efficient. I’m managing tasks and time much better now as I'm not inhibited when I don't have my laptop with me on business travel etc.

🔥New Night Science paper!! Discovery happens when your initial plans fall apart but it requires you to have a particular mindset: it's not extraverted, orderly, neurotic or agreeable that's the most important – discovery requires an OPENNESS to new ideas and unexpected insights.

All those stories about people spiraling after spending too much time with LLMs like ChatGPT because those systems always nod along, affirm whatever nonsense people say. Makes you wonder what life’s like for those surrounded by real-life sycophants and yes-men.
