Dear School Districts If you are forcing your teachers/staff to give up their prep periods to cover for a teaching vacancy due to lack of substitutes — you will soon have another teaching vacancy that you will need coverage for. From a teacher who is broken down:

I’m almost a decade deep into this teaching thing and I still can’t believe y’all expect us to create, teach, and grade everything without paying us overtime. It is impossible to do all 3 well during our contractual hours.

It’s good to be curious about the experiences of others… especially others who are not just like us. We need more of that.

When people are down, they don't want to hear "Cheer up!" Pushing them to be positive invalidates their emotions. They don't want to be told how to feel. They want to know you care about how they feel. The goal isn't always to feel better. Sometimes it's just to be understood.

Please stop using “I can” statements as learning targets & success criteria. Please use “We are learning to..” WALT and WILL (what it looks like) instead. Need to think about #SEL & mental health impact for Ss who “can’t”. WALT & WILL accomplish learning goal w/out negatives.

Your entire life happens inside your body. It's the one home you will always occupy and can never sell. But you can renovate it. If you can only pick one habit to build, exercise is probably the one. Everything is downstream from how your body is functioning.

Teachers, RT this if it is impossible for you get your grading, planning, parent/guardian outreach and all other additional requirements (on top teaching) completed during your contractual hours. Just curious.

The one thing life has taught me - never be to quick to judge, you never know what people have going on behind the scenes! It’s called life!! There’s ebbs & flows, ups & downs - don’t judge what you don’t know!

What a special week for Tolbert Elementary 5th graders & their families. Chorus concert on Tuesday, then DARE Graduation and DARE Fair on Thursday. It felt so good to recognize these kids and their achievements with their families. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Our 5th graders coded Root robots to draw different types of triangles and measured sides and angles to compare!

Every year we get a new class roster. We scan it over to see how many, do we know any of their siblings, can we recognize any names? Inevitably at some point, while scanning a name comes up we recognize...or even worse someone looks over our shoulder at our list and makes the
