It is very rich living in PA where there is a seemingly immovable liquor monopoly powered by state stores and their unions and hearing that NYC can just give public groceries a shot and they'll stop if they don't work well. You'd think so, but no actually

One downside of highly progressive tax systems is that you become very dependent on a relatively few number of people continuing to produce and pay taxes.

If anyone had any doubts about the subvertive nature of Chinese AI freebies, here's a good example. I decided to ask DeepSeek to do a mundane job: edit the text of a recent The Insider article to make it more vocal-delivery friendly, so we can record it as a podcast. SFSG.

I am not a lawyer, but it seems to me that the Skrmetti decision hints that the court is ready to get rid of--or at least significantly narrow--disparate impact analysis in civil rights cases.

What happened to Congressman Max Miller is horrifying and absolutely unacceptable. Political violence has no place in this country — and the person responsible must face the full consequences of the law. There can be no tolerance for this kind of violence.

over the last 2 decades, we have seen the decline of the investment bankers and the rise of lawyers in the 1980s, the most prominent job was the investment banker. that has not been true for a long time. today there are fewer investment bankers that are earning extreme wealth.

Polling shows that Trump's lost the political battle over the LA protests, even as immigration had been his best issue. His net approval on LA (-15 pt & with indies -24 pt) is way underwater. Further, ICE's popularity has fallen with -9 pt net approval on more workplace raids.

So we have guys who live in San Francisco and DC saying they prefer a Zohran victory because it will be interesting to watch what happens. Would it even be that interesting? I thought Chicago already volunteered for this experiment.

because this is my lot in life, must note - 1.) Trump did not oppose Iraq before it happened 2.) he was on record supporting the invasion 3.) he celebrated it as a success at first 4.) he did not turn against it publicly until a year a later. x.com/samstein/statu…

One reason police officers are normally readily identifiable is that if you normalize anonymous policing you make it much easier for crooks and scammers to pull stuff like this. cnn.com/2025/02/04/us/…
