Before the Bomb Squad there was the Blade Squad šŸ‡æšŸ‡¦ Love this story of Blade Shearers Zwelamakhosi Mbuweni and Bonile Rabela winning the world title in their division as a team, beating NZ into second. goodthingsguy.com/sport/sa-win-g…

I’ve lived + worked in 5 countries on 3 continents. I’m a grateful immigrant to the UK for the chance to live + raise my children in one of the world’s most free + well integrated countries. Liberty comes at a cost. This weekend we remember those who have paid that price. šŸ™

A lot will be written about Ken’s achievements in sport as an athlete and a successful MD in several sports, My thoughts are with his family at this time and my thanks for how he looked after me and many others at Gloucester. Kind, smart, levelheaded and good humoured. RIP Ken

Probably the best thread I’ve come across on the benefits of training the young female athlete ā¬‡ļø Summaries like this make our lives easier educating parents, coaches and athletes. Next step is to promote the value of those professionals who can deliver this training well.

Ed Archer/Athlete Academy Appreciate it, Ed - glad it hit the mark and thanks for sharing. Pairs well with this (solving ACL injury crisis in women's football will require intervention at a much earlier stage in their development): athletegeneration.substack.com/p/solving-the-…

The development programme showcased here that Des Ryan developed in his time at Arsenal is world-leading. Built on uncompromised focus on excellent basic movement skills and by investing in good people who uphold the high standards of the vision.

Just a reminder with reference to the preconception that still seems to exists out there that tall athletes by default can’t move well through full range triple flexion: The world record holder in the snatch is 198cm (6’6ā€)… with 225kg above the head in a deep overhead squat…

A big step forward for us to get to collaborate with Absolute Performance on this exciting journey. šŸ™ We will be working together to promote and provide a robust alternative in the fitness education space. ā€œCommitted to deliver and expect (unapologetically) high standardsā€

Even after 27 years in my profession, I still have doubts that this is what I’m meant to be doing. We all need a reminder sometimes to take stock: Do I enjoy it? Does it help others? Can I deliver consistently? And if someone’s work helps you, remember to tell them!

Was Michael Boyle the 1st to use the phrase ā€˜orthopaedic cost’ on SM? I love it and it’s an important consideration in my coaching world. I’m adding a section on it for a new module in our S&C course and would appreciate some suggestions for good reads/chats for reference. Tx

The #RugbySevens at #Paris2024 has - as always - been gripping in both the men’s and women’s tournaments. It is one of a number of sports that makes me think that athletes of the home nations would be better off competing under their own flags at the Olympics. What thoughts?

Ed Archer/Athlete Academy (@athlete_academy) 's Twitter Profile Photo

By 2028 #Rugby7s players will be global superstars as the USA go all-out on the #LA2028 Olympics. Melbourne to follow in 2032. In both cases the host nations will target men’s and women’s Olympic GoldšŸ„‡ Exciting times for one of the most athletic of team sports.

More opinions on this please… Why shouldn’t English, Scottish and Welsh athletes go to the Olympics under their own flag? We do so at almost every other international sport competition…
