Six spines?! Today's #MarineMonday is the Six-spine leatherjacket, who like the name suggests, can have six, and up to eight spines ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. They appear in our South-East marine park network. Question: how long can this species be when very full grown? ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿ“ธ Andrew Newton

For only the second time ever, a Nazca Booby (Sula granti) has been sighted in Australia ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Found in the Galapagos Islands, the species found its way to Ashmore Reef. The field team sighted it attempting to court a female masked booby! Full story - brnw.ch/21wMLL3

Welcome to the newest member of our Carnarvon Canyon Marine Park - the Carnarvon flapjack octopus. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘€ Collected by scientists during a CSIRO voyage in 2022, this interesting underwater creature was just recently given its new name. ๐Ÿ“ธ Cindy Bessey - @csirogram
