The Y5 swim team demonstrated their ability in the pool during a swimming gala at Chigwell School yesterday. Eight pupils swam in a number of individual & relay events, with the team narrowly losing to Chigwell School by only 4 points. Well done to all who took part!

Y5 have taken their science lesson outside, calculated the size of planets in comparison to balls from the sports cupboard and are acting out orbital revolution in the playground. They were surprised to see Mars was only a golf ball compared to the basketball needed for Saturn!

Fourteen keen table tennis players from Y3-6 went to Chigwell School last week, to take part in a fun & friendly competition. There were some really close matches, it was fantastic to see our pupils enjoying healthy competition between peers! Thank you @Chigwell hosting us.

Avon House marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day with an informative assembly, the chance to play traditional games and experience songs and music of the 1940s, a special guest who talked to the Prep about her childhood experiences of World War II amd a street party lunch.

Avon House is taking part in Soccer Aid this year! Soccer Aid raises money for UNICEF's global initiatives and goes towards supporting children's health, education, and protection worldwide. Every pupil will be taking part in exciting football sessions & activities on 23rd May.

A sunny day is just perfect for crafting Neverland antique maps outside, as Year 1 discovered this morning Using cold tea, teabags and coffee granules, they had great fun staining their paper!

Foundation 2 were map-tacular this afternoon as they explored different styles of maps. Making the most of the cooling shade in our Outdoor Learning Area, our pupils went out to create their own maps and were eager to explain their map features to friends and their teachers.

Residentials are an important part of school life. Being away with friends helps boost confidence, develop independence, and strengthens social skills. Year 6 certainly returned from their adventures a little taller and a little wiser recently!
