The bill on brink of passage in House would realize a historic contraction in health coverage. 7 million would become uninsured from Medicaid cuts alone, + millions more from ACA changes. We could be looking at a 40%+ increase in share of Americans without health coverage.

Personally, I’m skeptical that taking healthcare away from millions of working-class people by imposing yet more red-tape — and causing many medically-preventable deaths — will give these individuals “a renewed sense of purpose.”

This is not a “grudge”, it’s rapidly escalating authoritarianism. If an institution as powerful as Harvard can be brought to heel & made to cry uncle, dominance over high-education more broadly has effectively been achieved.
