The Living Planet Fellowship is an ESA Earth Observation initiative to support young researchers who have a doctoral degree and would like to initiate a scientific career in the context of Earth Observation and Earth system science. Apply here eo4society.esa.int/communities/sc…

Our colleague Bas Altena (bas altena) about the #Marmolada glacier collapse (Dutch): "Glacioloog over lawinedrama Italië: recordwarmte gaf laatste zetje" rtlnieuws.nl/nieuws/buitenl…

Looking for ground penetrating radar (#GPR) experts to analyse data of icestupas we collected during our Swiss Polar Institute @swisspolar.bsky.social expedition last year. The objective is to produce a higher quality volume validation by identifying air, snow and ice layers within the ice.

#B22A is the largest iceberg in the Amundsen Sea, Antarctica (50 times Manhattan land area). It broke off from Thwaites Glacier's tongue and remained grounded for 20 years.. But now it's on the go (1/4).

Are you attending #EGU23? 🌎 Join us this evening for the joint European Space Agency/European Geosciences Union #EOExcellence Award ceremony session at Room G1 at Purple Level at 19:00, where we celebrate the achievements of our outstanding researchers: 🔗 eoxcellence.com #ESAatEGU

The Excellence Award from European Space Agency and European Geosciences Union was won by a team including bas altena from Institute for Marine and Atmospheric research. They did so for their measurements of glacier volume changes and glacier flow with unprecedented accuracy. Great achievement! esa.int/Applications/O…

Super delighted to award the ESA-EGU EO team award on behalf of The European Space Sciences Committee and #egu23 to Andy Kaab and his team including bas altena for their impressive work on so many aspects of ice on the planet. Well done & well deserved.
