A busy Early bumblebee (Bombus pratorum) feeding on Dandelion, they're such a valuable source of nectar in the spring. Pollinators need flowers from spring through to autumn, so allow some Dandelions to grow on your farm. #pollinators #dandelions #farmlandbiodiversity

Bush vetch is just starting to flower. It's a big favourite with pollinators and will continue to flower till late autumn. Check at the base of your hedgerows or along a laneway, it's a great native plant to have on your farm. #farmlandbiodiversity #nativehedgerows

Our Ladybirds of Ireland dataset has been recently updated. The dataset currently has 10,428 records, which will all go towards our #LadybirdAtlas25Project Unsurprisingly, the most recorded Ladybird species is the common and widespread 7-Spot Ladybird (pictured below).

If you have a wildflower area, it might start to look a bit tired at this time of year. This is a normal and important part of its cycle. The flowers will soon drop their seeds and even more will grow next year, so hold off on the mowing. August's seeds feed next years bees!

Take great care on #portmarnockbeach if you’re in the water today. Really really strong current. I struggled to get back to the beach after being taken out of my depth and I’m a regular open water swimmer. Lots of young kids out. #seaswim

Congrats to SDCC who are managing an incredible 160Ha for pollinators across 250 sites. Managing an area this size can be a challenge. To get it all cut, some sites are mown at the end of the flowering season, but the most biodiversity-rich are left until September🧵1/2

Some areas are not mown at all, providing areas for insects to overwinter. Huge thanks to Councils who are helping return vast areas of meadow, an important biodiversity habitat. 🧵2/2
