Hey Society for Neuroscience (SfN)! Come see how #Astrocytes sex-specifically regulate #cognition and meet our rock star PhD student Sam Meadows! We highlight a new mechanism of sex differences in memory in health and disease. A clarion call to test for #sexdifferences in #neuroscience.

Congratulations to the talented graduate student in WCM Brain and Mind Research Institute Weill Cornell GSMS DR. MEADOWS-ORTIZ Sam Meadows on an excellent thesis defense!! Exciting research🤯excellent talk 👍 a few tears 🥹 and the cutest furry sidekick🐶 The 1st Orr lab defense had it all🥳!!

Exciting preprint from Renata Goncalves in the Hotamisligil Lab identifies a single site of mitochondrial ROS production regulates hepatic metabolism. Exciting implications for targeting obesity and maintaining metabolic homeostasis. Congrats! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

I’m presenting a poster today at AACR for the first time! I’ll be talking about reprogramming immunosuppressive myeloid cells in context of non small cell lung cancer. #AACR23 Vivek Mittal PhRMA Foundation

So excited and honored to be awarded PhRMA Foundation’s pre-doctoral fellowship! Grateful for my mentor Vivek Mittal for all his support! My thesis work is aimed to utilize club cells’s secretary proteins to target immunosuppressive myeloid cells in lung cancer.

Immunotherapy has significantly improved outcomes for #LungCancer patients, but it doesn't work for all patients. Learn how #PhF23 predoc awardee Aakanksha Kapoor of Weill Cornell Medicine Vivek Mittal is studying strategies to improve effectiveness of #immunotherapy. ow.ly/eeIq50OzZeg

Ever wonder where ROS goes and how it spreads in cells? Turns out mitochondria fuse to speed up ROS removal! Check out our new paper in Nature Communications where we use an all-optical approach to map ROS spread in and between mitochondria. nature.com/articles/s4146… 🧵⬇️

Excited to share that the Xiao lab is launching at Stanford Biochemistry and Stanford Cancer Institute this fall! We will be soon seeking a research technician and a postdoctoral fellow. If you are interested, feel free to email me and I'd be happy to chat! More info: xiaolab.space
