So sad to hear this morning of the death of Lord May, Bob May a truly brilliant Renaissance man, former Chief Scientific Advisor and President of the Royal Society. Also one of the extraordinary minds on the original Committee on Climate Change. Bob, your contributions were huge!

Can’t believe that when I was a kid in the countryside, the milkman turned up in an Electric Vehicle and gave us milk in plastic-free, reusable containers. I was living in the future and I didn’t know it.

#IStandWithGill shocking to hear the RCM CEO is being abused on Twitter for giving life saving advice to pregnant women. Please get your jabs!

After yesterday, we now landed on changes in extremes🌡️⛈️🥵🧺! And although I don't like to pick favorites, I do like this visual very much. Too big for a single tweet, this one shows how hot extremes over land change compared to when our great-grandparents were alive. (2/n)

Yesterday the House of Lords added soils to the areas such as air and water where the Government must set long term improvement targets. Please help ensure they stay there. Healthy soils are critical- to feeding us and meeting net zero just for starters!

Environment Bill. The Commons disagree with the Lords amendment to make 5 yearly targets statutory- like carbon budgets. The Commons Reason ‘Because the Secretary of State should not be placed under a statutory duty to meet interim targets’ Why not when they are SO important?

For those who have asked (there are a few of you), we are planning to publish an assessment of the new Net Zero Strategy next week, before the Budget. The brilliant team Climate Change Committee have been busy.

FT Moral Money comments that EY are claiming to be carbon negative through offsets that could be as cheap as $3 per tonne, suggesting US could get to net zero emissions for less than $50 per head. Sounds an amazing bargain. Well worth a read!

When we need adaptation to achieve net zero, especially if nature based solutions are to be effective, why is there oneAdaptation day at COP and 2 weeks of mitigation? Seems to follow the allocation of funding, too.

Great to see honours for lots of brilliant women, including OBEs for Kathryn Brown, former Head of Adaptation at CCC, Julie Foley at the EA and Yvonne Baker CEO of STEM Learning. A raised glass to all of them!
