Inspiring article about the academic trajectory of Bastien Aymon Bastien Aymon, an EPFL undergrad who took our Intro. to Structures class in his 1st year & remained connected to our lab ever since. Next stop: he will work with Carlos M. Portela MIT MechE. Wishing them the best!
First time in the US, first conference, first talk, all within the last 5 days. Amazing times at SES Society of Engineering Science 2022 meeting, met so many fine people and learned a lot. Now back to Lausanne EPFL Mechanical Engineering for more adventures!
EPFL ➡️ MIT Looking forward to meeting the team and working on some exciting mechanics Carlos M. Portela ! EPFL Mechanical Engineering MIT MechE
Thank all Zhao lab members for being in my life and career at @mit Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)MechE. I am impressed by your kindness, creativity, and appetite. Have a great holiday season!
A picture is worth a thousand words. This picture of cells on a 3D-printed scaffold is on exhibition at MIT Koch Institute Koch Institute at MIT. Please stop by and learn the story behind it. Congratulations Bastien Aymon James U. Surjadi Carlos M. Portela MIT MechE!
We just did something cool last night! Really nice work with James U. Surjadi at the intersection of my past and current research. Excited to share more on this soon 👀 On display at the Koch Institute at MIT public galleries until March 2026; stop by and check it out!
🔬Can metamaterials be stiff, tough, and extensible?🧪 Inspired by tough hydrogels, we introduce double-network-inspired metamaterials to achieve this—along with a design, modeling & experimental framework to understand them! Out in Nature Materials today! nature.com/articles/s4156…
Our recent work is on the cover of Nature Materials! 📸🎉 We designed double-network-inspired metamaterials that combine stiff + compliant elements to achieve a rare combination of high strength and stretchability!
