Community engagement is the backbone of AMR mitigation. When communities are informed, empowered, and involved, they become active defenders against the misuse of antimicrobials. Together, we can protect our health, our animals, and our environment

Data must move us! At #Evi4Dev, African voices called for urgent, evidence-based action: it’s time to pivot from outdated funding models and externally driven priorities toward bold investments in African-led R&D and policies that strengthen and secure our health systems.

Real change happens when communities stop being seen as recipients and start leading as decision-makers. Let's #ShiftTheNarrative: True impact begins with community power, not top-down planning. #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #CommunityPower #CoDesign

Research must be reciprocal. Communities aren't just data sources, they deserve access to the insights they help generate. Let's make #DataEquity and #KnowledgeJustice the norm, not the exception. #EvidenceWithCommunities #RethinkingAid

Change isn’t just about statistics, it’s about connection, trust, and long-term transformation. While we track numbers, true progress runs deeper: it’s in how people live, feel, and lead after the project ends. Let’s shift how we define success.

Impact isn’t one-size-fits-all. What’s meaningful to a donor or evaluator may not reflect what truly matters to a community. Local people must be at the center of defining success based on their lived realities, goals, and values. True development listens first, then supports.

Marginalized communities often have limited access to infection prevention and control interventions due to a combination of structural, social, and economic barriers. How can we improve these communities’ access to quality and effective infectious disease interventions?

We started by educating students about AMR. We used illustrative cartoons and storytelling to explain and illustrate AMR emphasizing how WASH is key in the fight against AMR. We also used local languages like Lusoga spoken in Iganga and Mayuge, to help them understand more easily

The discovery of antibiotics was one of the best innovations in history. Antibiotics have saved many lives over decades. But imagine a world where we get back to the ancient times where people lost lives due to simple infections.
