Student journalism is a huge net positive for society. It holds important institutions (in this case, LSE) to account, and provides an invaluable training ground and springboard for the next generation of journalists

The beaver was an incredibly productive interface for engaging with the LSE community, when I there as Features editor. I also saw it give many students serious exposure to the world of journalism (and beyond). The LSE Students' Union can do better.

This is shameful from LSE Students' Union. Typical as well, to have elected officers say they wish to support but eventually failing at that. Put your money where your mouth is and make the commitments you know you can do.

When I was a member of the su executive and board, it was clear that the board and executive could make decisions around budgets and make budgets work. The elected members should show leadership and just fund the paper. If they dont want to, they should show their hand and say so
