A1: there’s a multitude of factors contributing to honeybee and pollinator decline as a whole. 4 main factors many people refer to as the “4 Ps” include: pests, pesticides, poor management, & poor nutrition. #saschat

A2: There are lots of new technologies to help keepers maintain a watchful eye on their hives remotely. BEETRaXs-M.A.T.E helps us track many of our hives on corporate campuses.But even without technology available, a good beekeeper always keeps very detailed inspection notes #saschat

A3: Beekeeping is an agricultural entity. You are always deeply aware of weather and temperatures. The beekeeping season ie., nectar flow, medical treatments, honey harvest, pest pressure, and more is heavily correlated with nature’s seasons. #saschat #dataforgood

A4: The best way an individual can contribute to pollinator health is to help reduce habitat fragmentation. Help by planting native plants, spraying less, and leaving natural areas in your lawn. Think, “is my lawn supporting life, or is it on life support?” #saschat #dataforgood

A4: Honeybees don’t need “saving”. They’re managed agriculture. As a super-social indicator species we can study them to better understand the overall health of all pollinators. Honeybees are a great way to begin a conversation on environmental stewardship! #saschat #dataforgood
