Strong speech from Polly Billington for East Thanet on the need for coastal communities to get the support they need. Half the mission critical neighbourhoods we have identified at Independent Commission on Neighbourhoods are on the coast. We need to give places like Newington Estate we visited priority.

Really fascinating looking at voting intention by life satisfaction: Both the Green Party and Reform do much better with people with lower life satisfaction, Labour is only convincingly ahead with people who rate their life satisfaction at 10/10

97.8% of our community lives in a mission-critical neighbourhood – including me. That’s more than any other constituency in the country. I’m calling on the government to recognise these 34 areas, treat them as mission-critical and back them with the resources, focus and urgency

Detailed analysis to follow but a *big* day for Independent Commission on Neighbourhoods: £500 million secured for New Deal for Communities-style investment, targeting mission critical neighbourhoods.

One thing word noting is the very small geographic scale in which these investments will be made We’re talking an average ~8000 population per 25 places, each of which will get up to Ā£20mn Truly hyperlocal - exactly as Independent Commission on Neighbourhoods has been calling - with lots more to come.
