I'm far too low brow for opera, but the ticket deal for English National Opera #AlbertHerring Lowry was unmissable. Cracking performances enjoying the comedy without forcing anything. Enough to make me want to see more.

Someone watched the end of Beau Travail and learnt nothing. Deliciously hallucinogenic cinematography and excellent location work aside there's little to recommend #BalladOfASmallPlayer. Not least because it never quite illustrated how gambling can be enticing.

There are a lot of ideas thrown at the wall during #AfterTheHunt, many of them would be interesting if the characters weren't universally insufferable and tried to speak like human beings.

Surprisingly sweet biopic of a fairly ordinary criminal (even if the methods are largely unique). Cianfrance and Tatum accentuate #Roofman's sentimental charm, but I wonder if a more substantial allegory could've been made.

It's a bold choice to make #SpringsteenDeliverMeFromNowhere an anti-music biopic, much like Nebraska is an anti-rock album, although this fits completely with Scott Cooper's filmography. Not everything works but as a counterpoint to toxic masculinity it's very effective.

The true story of Floreana Island may never be known, but Ron Howard's #Eden, based Marget Wittmer's account is still a valuable cautionary tale. Overplays the suspense early on so when the betrayals and violence come they are no surprise, but nice turns from international cast.

Organizer of Pécs Pride, Géza Buzás-Hábel will be interrogated as a suspect of a criminal investigation into Pécs Pride. The hearing will be on October 28. We demand the police to stop criminalizing peaceful human rights defenders who bravely stand up for our fundamental rights!

Abou Sangare gives an incredible performance in #SouleymanesStory, appearing in every shot as a asylum seeker in France. Encapsulates the precarious easily exploited existence in the margins of society. Should be compulsory viewing for anyone protesting outside hotels.

I think Del Toro's #Frankenstein suffers from the same issues as Branagh's version. There's just so much plot to get through that it forgets about story. So every moment of meaning needs to be telegraphed as important. The design work is outstanding, but I'm left cold.

Trust Kelly Reichardt to take the concept of a heist movie and play it out as the mid life crisis of mild desperation. Of course Josh O'Connor was never going to be #TheMastermind but his incremental points of failure mostly predicated by bad luck are heartbreaking.

In a post truth world we find our sympathies flitting between Jesse Plemons and Emma Stone (both excellent) in #Bugonia almost every 5 minutes. So much so the denoument threatens to collapse the whole endeavour. But I don't think I'll stop thinking about it for a while.

Throwback to 70's paranoia thrillers with excellent performances from Lily James and Riz Ahmed as a corporate whistleblower and her handler using a telephone #Relay service to communicate. Lean and well paced storytelling, although plot may collapse if scrutinised too fully.

Just saw some idiot take a corner too fast and nearly lose control.of their car. It was worth going out for lunch today.

Farewell Diane Ladd, the character actresses character actress. Never afraid to go big, however always also brought a subtle undertow to her performances that made them feel fully rounded. Will be much missed.
