It was a pleasure to co-host a Bruker Nano Surfaces & Metrology Nanoscale Characterisation workshop Lancaster Physics this week. We welcomed 35 visitors to campus to explore Nanoindentation and Advanced SPM. We’re enjoying the opportunity to explore the capabilities of the Dimension IconXR SPM system.

Maybe, instead of National Service for 18 year olds they should introduce national service for MPs. They all have to do several weeks volunteering in a school, GP, hospital, care home, social care and police within their first 12 months in office.

I see lots of Right wingers are using places like Denmark as a shining beacon of why National service is great. It’s funny, cos they don’t ever seem to champion all the OTHER aspects of life for young Danes. Little 🧵 1/12

Lads, lads I’ve had a great idea. Let’s get young people to train as Doctors, Nurses, Scientists, Engineers. We could do this through a ‘voluntary national education’ system, perhaps call it ‘university’. Imagine what that would give back to society.

Rishi Sunak has said all the Tory candidates can just bring in games from home today. He's asked for three volunteers to help him clean all the wipeboards in Downing Street and Jonathan Gullis, Ben Bradley and Steve Baker have said they will if they can do it together.

Question for Rob Key, Baz and Stokes. Is getting thrashed by Sri Lanka after 3 and a quarter days, in the dark and cold, in September, after prioritising The Hundred ,in August, the best way to save Test Cricket? How many kids will this inspire?

The One Day Cup always used to be the county summer's showpiece one-day final. The Hundred dominating August is a farce. There's no wonder England's ODI side can't bat in 50-over cricket. The players don't play it. The final is in autumn! The county schedule should support
