Underrated tweet. We need more people with the courage to speak up from within the charter sector. If it's really "all about the kids", we should be able to have real conversations about the impacts of our policies.

After thinking about this more, this is a clear misuse of research and an intentional attempt to mislead the public. It's borderline fraud. If OSSE is not telling the truth about this, what else are they not telling the truth about?

Unfortunately weโ€™ve created a system that prioritizes spinning data over actually utilizing data for improvement. This is just one area where data could be released MUCH earlier (including staff retention data) so that people could use it for real time improvement.

I really hate how much the conversation about phones in schools is shaped by guns. We know phones negatively impact learning, but we also believe children must be murdered, therefore learning loss is essential because murdered children should be able to say goodbye.

This is outrageous. Mayor Muriel Bowser, DDOT DC, and some Council of DC members have dragged their feet on prioritizing safety for pedestrians for too long. We need a new DDOT director and a Council willing to revoke licenses after so many speeding violations (even if they are paid).

The same Q could be asked about school accountability systems. Why do we do this? My guess is thatโ€™s is much easier to blame others than do anything, and it serves the interests of those with (more) power.

Charters shouldn't get facility allotments if they're living rent free in DC-owned buildings. This shouldn't be hard, and yet it is in DC.

This is my research ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธPSA๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ today and everyday. Don't use years/days of learning most of the time. Here is a presentation about this, tweaked to be geared for the general public. drive.google.com/file/d/1r0Lqisโ€ฆ

We don't talk about this enough: "Despite differences in verbalized aims and intent, the impact of White liberal and conservative actions are similar, as evidenced by unified opposition to school racial integration. Whiteness binds parents across the political spectrum."

Too often educational interventions are innovations that might have positive effects in the short term, yet cause harm to the entire educational ecosystem in the long term. We need more research that looks at the larger systems.

We need a straightforward SW-SE connector. I donโ€™t understand why the city wouldnโ€™t want to connect The Wharf with Navy Yard and Eastern Market.
