Incredible work from Transport Action Network . Thank you. Given the enormous economic (and societal) benefits of investment in 🚶🏾‍♂️ and 🚲 infrastructure, it remains baffling why this Government is continuing the previous government’s approach of minimal funding.

There is simply no need to build cars this shape. People say they like the high driving position and internal space. Fine. You can build cars with those characteristics that that weigh much less and have bonnets designed to protect pedestrians theguardian.com/world/2025/jun…

Tory-run Kensington & Chelsea Council consulted on allowing second home owners to obtain residents’ parking permits. More than 70% of respondents opposed but they decided to go ahead anyway in a typical fashion. And they claim they listen to residents! And to be greener!! #GTTO

Something strange is happening in Chiswick. A lot of the people who I was told don’t and won’t cycle appear to be cycling when safe infrastructure has been installed. 🤗

20 years ago Bank junction (and the City generally) was a noisy polluted area, hostile to pedestrians and a pretty grim place to get around. Thank you City of London and all involved in the transformation - Bank (and the City) are now areas to want to visit not escape from !

Cycling in London is now above 2020 Covid spike and 49% above 2019 levels. All figures from DfT. Quite simply: safe cycle infrastructure on main roads and quiet urban side streets enable more people to choose to cycle for transport. Look to London rest of the UK 😊

Westminster council is proposing to add protection to the cycle lanes on Westbourne Terrace. Junction treatment looks a bit ropey but will be a substantial new protected cycleway and crucially sorts out crossing under Westway very nicely. Consultation here cmswestbourneterrace.commonplace.is/en-GB/

“We see active travel as a function of a much wider ambition… It is crucial we build into a wider vision that doesn’t silo active travel into only transport… The benefits of active travel are universal, but they’re not currently universally felt.” Kim McGuinness #ACY25

Great - this new cycleway is on the route where Christina Kong was tragically killed. It will make 1000s of us safer every day The original plans included Holland Park Ave & Notting Hill Gate, but blocked by Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, despite this route claiming the life of Eilidh Cairns in 2009

We really do need so much more of this - infrastructure to make walking and wheeling an attractive choice. Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea meanwhile remains miserably incompetent, as no doubt will be evidenced again in the annual Healthy Streets Scorecard review of London boroughs

👇- work on a route Felicity Buchan and other Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Conservatives delayed a few years ago. They haven’t learned - still campaigning against safety infrastructure. Dreadful. Imperial College London PhD student Christina Kong’s life cut tragically short where the route would have been

Shocking to see multi-billion £ delivery platforms taking no responsibility for how their riders operate. Riders are incentivised to break rules to make ends meet. It puts themselves + others in danger. Well done to Laura Laker for holding them to account on BBC Breakfast 🧵

The solution: Delivery apps could ask riders for real-time photographic evidence that the bike they are using matches the one they signed up with. Each rider has to have their bike or e-bike approved by the platform before they can deliver (see sign up screen)
