Great work by Shade et al (FardoLab #UKSBCoA). Using neuropath (not clinical diagnosis), we discern which genetic risk factors drive specific neuropathologies. Also identified 4 new loci involved in disease (COL4A1,PIK3R5,LZTS1,APOC2) #Alzheimers #Dementia rdcu.be/dZ5bh

This is incredible news for patients with certain muscular dystrophies. I've felt for years that these are diseases we have the technology to treat. "All they need" is a good copy of a single gene delivered to affected muscles. This is huge. www-science-org.ezproxy.uky.edu/doi/10.1126/sc…
