1/2 The next meeting of the Commission Expert Group on Fertilising Products (CEG-FP) takes place 26th and 27th November, while the AdCo (national surveillance authorities) meeting is planned for 28th November. #CMC10 #CMC7 #FPR #biostimulants

2/2 EBIC is an observer to the CEG-FP, where it expects the issues of #CMC10, #CMC7, #FPR evaluation, FAQ & Standards to be on the agenda. Our members are kept up to date with these items and how it may impact on them & their business. biostimulants.eu/membership/

1/3 The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has published the 33 standards for #plantbiostimulants placed on the market in accordance with the Fertilising Products Regulation (EU) 2019/1009. #FPR

2/3 In other words, on 27 November, CEN made the 33 standards available to the 34 National Standardisation Bodies.

3/3 Thanks EBIC members involved, with a special note to Benoît PLANQUES from HELLO NATURE® who, as the Chairman of CEN/TC 455, drove the process forward, making CEN/TC 455 the only Technical Committee producing norms for the FPR to finish on schedule: lnkd.in/eD3wWZF6

1/2 Healthy soil is essential for successful crop production, yet it’s increasingly under threat. According to the UNFAO State of Land & Water Resources for Food & Agriculture Report (2021), one-third of global cropland is degraded due to human activity & 18% from natural causes.

1/2 ABPs are derived from animals that are not intended for human consumption, such as hydrolysed proteins & insect frass. Due to being nutrient-dense, they are often used in PBs & they have been proven to enhance plant growth, nutrient uptake, and resistance to stress.

2/2 Regulating ABPs in biostimulants is challenging due to the absence of a defined “end-point” status. Without this designation, ABPs face regulatory challenges, limiting their use in fertilising products & restricting farmers’ access to these tools: biostimulants.eu/advocacy/anima…

1/3 Seaweeds have a long history of use in agriculture for their plant biostimulant properties, which enhance plant growth, stress tolerance, and nutrient use efficiency. These benefits are derived from their impact on biochemical pathways and gene expressions in plants.

2/3 However, the growing popularity of seaweed-based plant biostimulants has brought several regulatory challenges, particularly in terms of approval processes and market access. #biostimulants #seaweed #whitepaper
