The ITEMS study is methodologically flawed. The claimed findings are not consistent with the data. Recommendations made are not supported by the findings. Despite these issues, the report was used as the basis for expensive planned intervention in the NHS magonlinelibrary.com/doi/abs/10.129…

.NHS England CQCProf National Maternity Voices National Voices peer-reviewed paper on flawed ITEMS study, widely quoted & relied on in maternity: it is, in short, methodologically a mess, fails to cite relevant literature, & makes recommendations unsupported by data. Better research needed.
