"[A] return to “the way things were” pre-COVID is unacceptable. [...] The question for the philanthropic community is how these potentially transformative resources will be leveraged with the speed and urgency the moment requires." via Center for Effective Philanthropy cep.org/from-weeping-t…

On this Labor Day I am praying and recommitting to support workers and their rights starting with farmworkers in CA and across the country. Let’s not forget what this day is truly about.

Friends we need to pray for Nicaragua. For young people who are being tortured and killed for seeking justice. For the faithful who are caring for their families. For the future of the people of this long-suffering country. God have mercy.

Late last night returning from the memorial service of a beloved mentor and friend,my young LYFT driver, Kameron, offered me condolences and then said, “I’m here for you…”. In that moment he gave me so much hope. In our brokenness we can be family for one another. ♥️

Still praying for all victims of the Club Q shooting and our LGBQI+ siblings across the country & the Transgender community globally. We must engage in action including conversation with children & young people about how wrong these deadly incidents are as hard as this may be.

Thank God for the people of El Paso, TX! They teach us how to humanely welcome suffering migrants. It isn’t done by erecting barbed wire fences, or forcing people to wait piled up in the cold like unwanted merchandise, or separating children from their families. Thank you EP!

“The Biden administration has chosen fear over hope at our southern border... As people of faith, we condemn this action and hope that God will open the hearts of policy makers to see asylum seekers as human beings and not threats.” Ronnate Asirwatham of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice #NoAsylumBan

State of the Union was inspiring & hopeful with one glaring exception - no vision for real immigration reform and the treatment of the southern border as a place to simply build walls. Check out what’s happening to Friendship Park in San Diego. Biden is completing Trump’s wall!

Biden has broken his campaign pledge that under his administration there would “not be another foot” of border wall built. A 30 ft wall is going up at Friendship Park replacing an 18 ft wall! There is NO JUSTIFIABLE REASON for this! No love for neighbor. 💔

The Biden asylum ban would deny children and families fleeing persecution the right to seek protection at the border. President Donald J. Trump promised the American people that he would deliver solutions to keep families together, not condemn them to violence. #NoAsylumBan

“Death cannot be the cost of our immigration laws. The only crisis at the border is a moral crisis. The only failure is one of courage and justice.” -Bishop Mark J. Seitz Living out our faith means welcoming ppl in need. 3 DAYS LEFT to speak out against the ban: NoAsylumBan.us
