Cells differ in their cell-division cycle pace. But only now has it been shown that those types with faster cycles are more susceptible to cancer. nature.com/articles/d4158…

CAR T cell therapy can be life-saving, but like many other cancer therapies, can cause long-term “brain fog”. We discovered the cellular dysregulation underpinning this and a strategy to rescue the cellular and cognitive dysfunction in mice.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. James Till, one of the fathers of stem cell science. His research alongside Dr. Ernest McCulloch at UHN's Princess Margaret Cancer Centre changed the course of cancer research and paved the way for regenerative medicine.

Plasmid-based reporter assays are the bedrock of regulatory genomics. But a basic question has gone unanswered for decades: Do chromatin architectures form on plasmids transfected into mammalian cells—and does it matter? We finally have answers. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

I never got a high school diploma. This week, I gave the PhD hooding speech at Harvard Med. I told the story of how I got here—and why scientists must talk to the public. If we want science to stay a public good, we need to earn trust I start ~16:55. youtube.com/live/1gXanARwV…

Beautiful work demonstrating how common variants modify the penetrance of rare variants in both children and adults with telomere biology disorders (TBDs). According to the liability threshold model, rare and common variants additively raise disease risk beyond a threshold,

🚨🚨Paper out! 🚨🚨 Delighted to share our work, now published in Nature Genetics 🧬! shorturl.at/94s5S We identified a targetable, chromothripsis-associated genetic event in blast phase (BP) MPN, a particularly poor prognostic subtype of acute leukaemia. 1/n 🧵👇

My lab's first paper is out in nature. We show that lipoprotein uptake protects tumors from ferroptosis by delivering the lipid antioxidant α-tocopherol. Surprisingly, tumors use sulfated glycosaminoglycans—not canonical receptors—to capture lipoproteins. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Atul Butte died yesterday. The world lost a giant. A big bear of a man. With a huge smile. With love for everyone. With energy that could power a room. I loved everything about Atul. I loved how he was always happy. I loved how excited he was about science and helping people.

1/14 On behalf of the amazing team in Jonathan Weissman's Lab, we’re excited to share PEtracer (biorxiv.org/content/10.110…) a prime editing-based evolving lineage recorder compatible with both scRNA-seq and high-resolution imaging readouts in intact tissue. By applying PEtracer in a syngeneic mouse
