If you use Wikipedia, you've seen pop-ups like this. If you're like me, you may have donated as a result. Wikipedia is an amazing website, and the appeals seem heartfelt. But I've now learnt the money isn't going where I thought...

I'd like to think Vincent himself would have loved this action and cheered on the activists. It was punk, full of life, and in tune with this vibrantly beautiful Earth, just like he was. There is no art on a dead planet.

One to watch! An empowering documentary of lives of “Gast”-Arbeiter*innen from Turkey and their children in Germany by telling the stories of the music they played, produced, and listened to. Also shows how music reflected the exploitation and racism people faced early on

Massive news: eLife to abolish accept/reject decisions: papers will just be “peer reviewed”. Others can argue about this, but lots of interesting consequences. 1/9 elifesciences.org/articles/83889

Oh.

just made a "decentralized" "alternative" to twitter; everyone should go "join" it to make an account: fork github.com/diracdeltas/tw… to tweet: git commit --allow-empty to follow someone: git remote add <alias> <their fork url> to retweet: git cherry-pick <their "tweet">

We’re back again in beautiful Teapa, #Mexico trying to uncover the mysteries of the collective waves of the sulfur fishes — together with teams from @michitobler lab and DACBiol. So many great minds for studying these great fishes!

We say goodbye to the #sulphurmolly! Thousands of fish waves and bird attacks are recorded, temperture tolerance tests show how tough these fishes are w/o oxygen. We worked with great people from Arias-Rodriguez lab DACBiol and @michitobler lab. #fieldwork #teamfish

Sulphur mollies and sulphur gambusia live in oxygen-free waters in Mexico with temperatures often > 35°C. #CTmax experiments under #hypoxia revealed that mollies can tolerate up to 43.2 °C, even higher than with O2 in the water! Unbelievable! #teamfish biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Very excited that my first lead author paper is out now! We found that seabirds benefit by hunting with sailfish. As the sailfish break down the cohesion of the prey group with their attacks, presumably making catching fish easier for the birds! royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…
