With declining birth rates and little chance of major immigration reform, workers ages 50+ are the single largest underutilized workforce in the US. This is an opportunity for #SeniorLiving & #SeniorCare providers. My new piece w/Ed Frauenheim, Paul Irving & Jacquelyn Kung:

I really enjoyed working with the members of the NIC Future Leaders Council on Wednesday at their winter retreat in Florida. I’m inspired by the ideas, energy and enthusiasm of this group, and they give me tremendous excitement for our industry’s future.

I met the future of leadership in aging services recently: the 1st recipients of the William Colson and Anthony J. Mullen scholarships at UMBC Erickson School. All are back in school to further their training for aging services careers. Inspiring. cc Vision Centre: Leadership Development NIC

I was thrilled to meet with CEO Amy Schectman (center) and her @LifeAt2Life team, along w/ NIC colleagues, recently. We learned more about their new Opus model for middle-income seniors in the Boston area. I love the passion, creativity & business savvy of this team.

I agree with James Balda: Failure to address this workforce crisis will lead to a catastrophe. Not just for older adults and their families, but for our entire healthcare system. And for the policy-makers who failed to do what they're in office to do: Solve problems. #caregivers

The height of COVID was lonely, bewildering and frustrating for all of us. It also showed us what life is like for many older adults, before & after the pandemic. What did we learn in those days? How can we use the lessons to improve the future of aging? linkedin.com/pulse/you-hate…

I so enjoyed leading a discussion Friday at Kendal at Hanover - an engaged community in a beautiful setting. The theme was "Together, Transforming the Experience of Aging," and the residents particpated along with the board, CEO Beth Vettori & her team and reps from Kendal Corporation.

I was a guest on a recent episode of the "Art of Aging" podcast, and we discussed what I think is a crucial issue for senior living in our country: the crisis of the "forgotten middle." Thanks to United Church Homes and Michael Hughes for having me as a guest. #seniorliving #aging
