OTD in 1982 Phil Crump won the Daily Mirror/Weslake 16 Lap Classic @ Ipswich. In a Final that was eventually reduced to 7 laps after riders had fallen or had e/f causing several re-starts Phil finished ahead of Bobby Schwartz & John Louis. Crumpie was the King of the 16 lappers.
