Just about to start our roundtable on Screening Violence BISA - British International Studies Association conference 2022. The empty chair is for my colleague Diah Kusumaningrum whose efforts to get a visa over the last 6 weeks from Home Office failed preventing her joining in person.

I find it hard to believe, but 20 years ago today, I joined Newcastle Politics. It’s been a privilege to work with so many talented & wonderful people. It truly has been a place to grow & prosper & I am thankful for the mentoring, advice, & support offered by colleagues on the journey.

Delighted this arrived this morning. Working with Nick Morgan reminds me of all the good things about academic life. Part of the Screening Violence project generously funded by Arts and Humanities Research Council. Thanks to Newcastle Politics for the enabling research leave.

Planning on attending American Association of Geographers convention in Denver? Interested in pop culture? Tourism geographies? New trends in digital spaces? Consider submitting a paper proposal for a panel or joining our roundtable. Get in touch for details. Darren Purcell KatrinkaSomdahl
