I feel bad tweeting now--if you see this, possibly you wasted one of yr 600 on it. But if you don't see it does anything exist? The pressure crushes. The void too vast. It makes writing poems seem so much more real, tangible, free. Poets, how much poetry did we lose to twitter?

How often does a writer forge an understanding of Eros, art, political resistance/history, memory such that, forever after, writers must reckon with it? I found Kundera at 17; I wdn’t be the writer I am without him. I loathe the sexism in his work, and I’m gutted he’s dead. RIP.

Thank you The Yale Review for publishing my poem “The Nature of Shelter” —TYR was one of the first journals that accepted a poem of mine for publication…25 years ago!

The kids are not okay, but the kids are all right. Who is okay with this nightmare of killing? I oppose all forms of hatred, against all people, and I stand with the students trying to end the war on Palestine.

why? why protest in these ways? why encampment? why free palestine? because we know the value of life, of trees & sky & bread, because only interconnected are we free, because we protect each other, because freedom is bread in the mouth of a neighbor, a stranger, a neighbor.

3-6am safety marshal shift sucks but also some real tranquility for taking in the beauty of the Newark Gaza/Palestine solidarity encampment

From Gaza's last maternity and neonatal hospital, in Rafah: "At the moment there are 45 babies between the neonatal intensive care unit and the special care intensive care unit. Without a doubt, if the Israeli army occupies this space, every single one of those babies will die."

I don’t know how it’s possible, but @poetclare has me figured out. I feel so read. And she gets deeply the inky marrow of AC, too.

Somehow, suddenly, it seems Walz—with his no-bullshit, think-for-yourself pedagogy described in detail in this one 2008 newspaper clipping—might actually singlehandedly save The Humanities?
