Cory's got a new book coming out and if it's half as good as his other recent greats it's worth twice the value of your time and treasure. He has a gift for envisioning potential near futures, and most importantly the responsibility+agency we (and our kids) have in shaping it.

1/Eight years ago this week I had a vision of what is happening now, and it chilled me to my core. I was traveling to Latvia to speak at an event. I reached out to the office of the late Rep. Elijah Cummings with my concern. He called me while I was on the tarmac in Riga.

when a lie is forced on loop, it’s not about conversion—it’s about wrecking your trust in anything. they don’t want you to buy the falsehood; they want you to forget what truth even feels like. the soviet trick wasn’t to implant a lie, but to leave your mind in a perpetual

CIPSEA (reauthorized under Trump in 2018!) provides that if you let the wrong person see confidential data, you can go to prison for 5 years and be fined $250,000. law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/44… It's no wonder that top professionals resign. Trump may have to give preemptive pardons.

Donald Trump promised to let Elon Musk self-police his conflicts of interest. The result? Those investigating his companies have been fired. Cases against his companies have been dismissed. The corrupt self-dealing is staggering.

Just figured out where these fake tariff rates come from. They didn't actually calculate tariff rates + non-tariff barriers, as they say they did. Instead, for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us. So we

The most profound AI alignment strategy would just be to be more aligned ourselves; to create beautiful, positive, peaceful, optimistic works; to foster harmony in our own lives and in our writing; to be all the things we would want the AI to be.

Yup. I can tell when people used AI. Who knew 3 years since GPT-3 I’m telling my kids to use your own brain 🧠 constantly & use AI selectively/mindfully. In 10 years the cognitive differences will be obvious between those rely on AI and those think independently/critically.
