How is this the world we live in? How do our #publichealth and medical schools teach us of the devastating effects of war and #colonial violence, only to fire us or block our careers when we petition for peace? The hypocrisy is palpable. #FreePalestine

The double standards in this statement from Ya'ara Saks יערה זקס — in which some people are deserving of safety, and others are deemed an inherent security risk — is genuinely shocking and disheartening. What message does she think this sends to Palestinian Canadians and their families?

At least 300 healthcare workers have been reported killed in Gaza, since early October this year. ❤️‍🩹💔 This is completely unacceptable. And against international humanitarian law that provides rules to protect access to healthcare in times of armed conflict.

Period.

People are not poor because they are "less fortuante". Poverty is structural. It's not fortune or luck that determines who is poor. It's active exclusion, oppression, marginalization, underdevelopment that intentionally fosters inequality & reinforces poverty. Words mean things.
