Historic England Statement on NOT listing the 115yr old Electric Cinema in Birmingham. We profoundly disagree with the reductive interpretation of the accumulated social &cultural history held in the walls of The Electric Cinema. To say it is not of national importance? 👎🏼

"England could gain 560,000- 670,000 new homes by repairing and repurposing historic buildings" declares Historic England. It is what we have said for years. There are so many fab buildings in Birmingham that could be homes for Birmingham families. Smallbrook Ringway for one.

Planning requires that demolition of Smallbrook Ringway can only occur if there are sufficient funds to build the first tower. £29 million is insufficient they need £350 + million. Will BCC guarantee that Smallbrook does not end up as another demolition site?
