📝🤔 Writing for #CHI23? A bad discussion section is my most common point of criticism across the papers I have reviewed as an AC for #CHI. Here are 10 practical tips on how to write better #HCI discussions. ✍️ Thank you to Florian Lehmann for his input! dbuschek.medium.com/be851092f351

Every successful CHI author follows these 13 rules of writing. Most people do not know them. Here they are for free to help you become a better research writer. 🧵⬇️

OK - #chi2023 notifications, with reviews, are going out to contact authors. PCS will also show these details in a few days. Of 3182 submissions, 234 (7.4%) were withdrawn or quick rejected. 1530 (48.1%) received R&R. 1384 (43.5%) did not meet the threshold for entering round 2.

Let's talk about tooling for evaluating reviewers. #chi2023 As an AC (CSCW2021), I never received training on evaluating reviewers. Under the pcs "review" tab, clicking "see reviewing history" shows some interesting but mysterious information about my contributions. 1/2

Question for #overleaf users working on #chi2023 R&R papers. What's the best way to produce the marked up version of the paper to show the changes that have been made?🧐

Do check out Max L. Wilson’s analysis of reviews produced for #chi2023 and the review process in phase 1. TL;DR: better reviews approach 1000 words, and 1/3 of papers are not producing reviews, 2/3 are not producing enough! 🔗 chi2023.acm.org/2023/01/05/inv… #sigchi #reCHInnecting

FYI any new author, struggling to write the start of your paper or report. This is how writing happens - it’s so interesting to watch. Contributions starting all over the place and it grows and edits down etc. #chi2023 #chi2024 Would love to watch how my own papers grow!

I’m absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to present our research on peer review at #CHIWORK2023. Thank you so much and it's inspiring to see the interest and engagement around this topic!
