Not sure if my brain's tricked me but I could swear a saw a paper the other week with recommendations on what POCUS scans should be part of a critical care admission assessment, which I can't find now. Segun Olusanya (He/Him) [email protected] Jonny Wilkinson - do you have a link to hand?

Good to know the RCS doesn't think sympathy is a useful skill in communicating bad news to patients... Genuinely one of the worst sets of pre-course assessment questions I've seen yet.

7 years as a medical SpR and now it's time to go back to ST3 to start again as an ICM trainee. Just got to decide whether I'm definitely giving back my AIM/GIM NTNs or whether it's worth bashing out the last two years just for the sake of it

Drawing milk up in a syringe is a great substitute for propofol during simulations but not when you forget about it for a month and come back to a room temperature drawer of rotten milk

You cannot be pro-strike and pro-scab, it’s a fundamental misunderstanding of how industrial action actually achieves its goals

Angry is not the word. To be clear - a ā€˜junior’ dr is - the one who does your emergency C-section at night - the one who then resuscitates your newborn - the person who assesses your dads stroke & delivers clot busting medication - the person who fixes your grandma’s broken hip

Ultimately 3 and 4 go hand in hand and I’m going to finish with one of my favourite articles from Bevan which explains better than I ever could. Despite best intentions all metrics can be gamed. Re perverse incentives a text book example regarding GP appointment booking…

I'm begging healthcare workers to stop sharing stories about what a patient said or did, even if no identifying information is given. It's not just a matter of privacy but a matter of respect. I expect my doctor or nurse to not tweet about *my* experience just for likes.

RE: directors of lived experience. Privilege is a shield and a blindfold. I’m still learning about the misogyny, racism and ableism colleagues and patients face every day. It’s not a luxury for trusts to listen and respond to those stories at the highest level, it’s a necessity.

Checking out the draft rules while waiting for Critical Care: The Game to ship and I’m so impressed they made the effort to not just mention SDOH but found a way to make it a gameplay mechanism

Last check of my presentation for the RCEM's ACCS careers day this afternoon, where I'll be promoting ICM as a career. Will be linking to Women in Intensive Care Medicine but is there an equivalent representing people of colour within ICM that I can promote? Segun Olusanya (He/Him) [email protected] @rosieICM FICMNews
