I am not going to lie, this one made me tear up a little. It’s from one of my non-English speakers. There might be lots of hard moments in teaching, then you get things like this. I tell them that I will push them to their best and I will not give up on them.

As we start our 3rd module in Wit & Wisdom discussing immigrants’ experiences, we are diving into other cultures. Today we did some noticing & wondering about artifacts from China & Japan that go with our stories Grandfather’s Journey and Tea with Milk.

When you spend several months learning about space and the moon in reading, and one of your students gets so into it, he gets a telescope for Christmas. He then captures the moon and creates his own Notice & Wonder chart at home 🥹.

Students can be the sweetest. I was at a meeting yesterday and this is a note I got from one of my students who is really improving on her English!

Some math love this week. We started understanding how equivalent fractions work while learning how to use blank fraction tiles too. Number lines with fractions are more fun on the floor with snuggies. Plus we love doing math ❤️.

This has to be my favorite math activity this year! We just wrapped up learning all of our 3rd grade math standards and as a celebration I wanted students to share what they learned. They made their own teacher anchor charts after we discussed all the standards they accomplished!

Love all the teacher appreciation this week, especially when your student does math problems for you as a gift because she knows your love for math 💗. So proud of this student and her accomplishments in math this year!

Year #14. Teaching 3rd graders taught me so much. Teachers have the hardest, but one of the most impactful jobs! I have a new change for next year…I am going back to what feels like home for me, math support. I will be the building math support at SFT. Here we go middle school!
