I am absolutely incensed by the vile, bigoted & racist comments that I’ve read about the appointment of Sir Hamid Patel as interim Chair of Ofsted. He is 100% the right person for the position. X really is a nasty cesspool. It’s important that we call out this behaviour.

Statement from CST on the appointment of ⁦Mufti Hamid⁩ as interim chair of ⁦Ofsted⁩. Sir Hamid is a leader who illuminates the darkness by serving a wider common good. I am extremely proud to work with him. cstuk.org.uk/news-publicati…

This sounds very sensible and I have no doubt Justin is a fab Dad, but I think unlimited/unmonitored internet or social media (which tbf, isn’t really being suggested but I think it could be read like that) is a highly risky approach.

A great thread by Michael on his start to the best/hardest/most rewarding/all-consuming job in the world. *yes, I’m sure someone can think of a better/harder etc job. The point stands: it’s wonderful but can be really tough at times and there’s little like it.

Surely it would make sense if RISE Teams and advisors, who were deployed to support secondaries/advise DfE, were made up of leaders from: ✅Top 50 P8 schools for disadvantaged intakes over 50% ✅All P8>1 schools ✅Top 50 most improved schools for P8 weareinbeta.community/posts/%F0%9F%9…

I’m seeing the re-emergence of posters & graphics from 20 ish years ago detailing strategies for pupils trying to regulate themselves. We need to be careful of strategies that may not work, of undermining behaviour approaches/teachers & of overcomplicating things for all.

Agree with this. It’s hard to build the knowledge required for teachers to do this as described but that’s the challenge - not looking for silver bullets &not trying to skip the work in equipping teachers with what they need (whilst being practical/pragmatic about what we can do)

Most of the poor decisions I’ve made as a school leader happened when I a) didn’t know enough, b) didn’t listen enough, and/or c) didn’t question my assumptions enough. Simple to admit, harder to correct.

It’s here! Writing framework led by the brilliant Tim Mills who worked alongside some excellent people including Andrew Percival and Clare Sealy. Well done, folks. Wonderful stuff to support schools across the nation and beyond. 👏👏👏gov.uk/government/pub…

I'm so pleased that this has been published. The writing framework will support schools in one of the hardest things to get right, and is a really excellent publication. Bravo Tim Mills and team, and Department for Education gov.uk/government/pub…

I also had to answer that one yesterday. One of my answers said that we wouldn’t be using their services given this approach. Absolute disgrace. What planet do you have to be on to think that using FOI will make people want to give you money? 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️😡
