For the last month, I’ve explored a Home Office centre for disabled asylum seekers. There are security cards but no care staff. Residents are left without wheelchairs or incontinence pads. One diabetic has lost two toes. My col. in today’s The Guardian theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

There is no mobile phones crisis in schools. Every school I know has a wise mobile phone policy in place. So talking about a ban simply uses up valuable time that should used addressing the real issues…like teacher recruitment & retention or diversity & inclusion, for instance.

Saint #FrancisofAssisi, in a time of great struggles and divisions, did not criticize or lash out at anyone. He took up solely the weapons of the Gospel: humility and unity, prayer and charity. Let us do the same!

The #Synod serves to remind us of this: our Mother the Church is always in need of purification, of being “repaired”, for we are a People made up of forgiven sinners, always in need of returning to the source, who is Jesus, to reach everyone with his Gospel.

Pope Francis (@pontifex) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is the Synod's primary task: to refocus our gaze on God, to be a Church that looks mercifully on humanity. A Church that is united and fraternal, that listens and dialogues; a Church that blesses and encourages, that helps those who seek the Lord. #Synod

We are here to walk together with the gaze of Jesus, who blesses the Father and welcomes those who are weary and oppressed. Let us start from the gaze of Jesus, which is a blessing and welcoming gaze. #Synod vatican.va/content/france…

“Praise God” is the title of this letter. For when human beings pretend to take God’s place, they become their own worst enemies. #LaudateDeum vatican.va/content/france…

I invite everyone to accompany this pilgrimage of reconciliation with the world that is our home and to help make it more beautiful through our own contribution because our own commitment has to do with our personal dignity and highest values #LaudateDeum youtu.be/Pwe_bd0TUjk

You can’t heal someone by hurting them. You can’t change behaviour without addressing its drivers. Getting tough on young people who commit crime doesn’t create a safer society. We need a youth justice revolution. Find out more about OasisRestore.org - opening next April.

The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy, instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it…Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. MLJ Jr

When one of Jesus’ friends drew a sword to try to prevent him from being arrested, Jesus said, “Put your sword away, all who draw the sword will die by the sword." If hate simply multiplies hate, and violence is a dead end, how do we work to reverse the tide?

This is an appalling and devastating loss of innocent lives. The Ahli hospital is run by the Anglican church. I mourn with our brothers and sisters - please pray for them. I renew my appeal for civilians to be protected in this devastating war. May the Lord God have mercy.

Call it a ‘humanitarian pause’ or a ‘ceasefire’, but we’re going nowhere in the Middle East except down until we stop killing & start gathering round a table to talk about a better future. And this will achieve even more if women are invited to shape and guide the conversation.

The evidence from the Covid Inquiry is worse than what bereaved families feared was happening at the time. Back then, we were often criticised for being “unfair” on the Government when we raised our concerns. It’s clear now we weren’t being anywhere near critical enough. 1/6
