A lesser reporter would’ve given up months ago. Chris has continued to hold power to account, doing everything he can to provide NYers with the information they need in a shrinking NYC media market. City Hall needs to reverse this, instead of doubling down.

We hand-delivered this to the Mayor's staff moments ago. Chris was doing his job. The only disrespect was coming from the podium.

The mayor continues to refuse to take a question from me after multiple reporters cede their questions to me. He claimed last week he would have security block me from getting into his weekly off topic briefings. I am in the room though.

The mayor of New York City, describing the freedom of the press as a “luxury” and intimating that my colleague is doing “something wrong” for asking a question—at a press conference, no less.

The view from the mayor’s official transcript: Where katie honan and I punted our questions to Chris Sommerfeldt , it’s labeled as “crosstalk.” And where Madina Touré asked a Q on behalf of Chris, his name is redacted.
