We spend a lot of time talking about freedom over the summer months, and I’ve been thinking about what it means to celebrate freedom in a time when it is under threat. How are you thinking about freedom in this moment?

Leadership is about creating opportunities not just for ourselves, but for others.

August is #BlackBusinessMonth, and there are so many great Black-owned gems shaping culture & community. Two of my faves: Busayo – bold fashion rooted in African heritage Dōgon – soulful Afro-Caribbean dining in DC Tag your favorite Black-owned businesses!

I was asked about the trend of folks stepping away from leadership. My take: “Leadership is hard on its best day… People want titles and they want a salary, they don’t want to lead.” Leadership takes sacrifice.

There’s no easy way to progress; it takes commitment and community. What change are you willing to shape?
