Happy birthday to Chemistry Edinburgh alumnus & 2016 The Nobel Prize winner Fraser Stoddart, from all of us at The University of Edinburgh School of #Chemistry!🎉

Happy Birthday 82 Fraser Stoddart! Thank you for the many contributions you have made to the students and research community at Northwestern Chemistry. 💜🎂

Please check out our paper in J. Am. Chem. Soc. on Tf-regulated chemically recyclable polymer, which inherently exhibit enhanced thermodynamic stability as the temperature increases, overcoming the long-standing challenge of instability that typically associated with Tc-regulated ones.

Our work on Tf-regulated recyclable polymers, led by my PhD advisor, Prof. Zi-Chen Li Peking University , overcomes the instability issues associated with intrinsic circular polymers. Further joint efforts are still required to tackle the global grand challenges in plastic sustainability.

In this massive team effort published in Chemical Reviews, we discuss how olefin metathesis has been applied to the development of new chemically recyclable polymers and the deconstruction of commercial polymers: pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…. A great learning experience for us!

Please check out our paper in Chem, utilizing molecular recognition to manipulate symmetry-breaking charge separation, which has the potential to achieve dynamic and fine regulation without complicated syntheses. Fraser Stoddart Northwestern Chemistry HKU Chemistry

Point-catenation unlocks hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks for H2 storage. Check out our article in Nature Chemistry featuring 7-fold catenated supramolecular crystals with high BET areas and record-high volumetric H2 storage capacities. In establishing an H2 economy the main challenge is storage of the gas. The serendipitous discovery by Ruihua Zhang (Riva)🍀 that storage in hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) marks a milestone. The article in Nature Chemistry celebrates the end of our first year The University of Hong Kong.

The fundamental message from this research is that it’s possible when substrates are bound in nano-sized receptors for one binding source to become dominant over all the others, i.e., many a mickle makes a muckle doesn’t always have to rule the roost. Northwestern Chemistry HKU Chemistry

Thrilled to see our wholly synthetic α-L-CD appear on the list of six Molecules of the Year of 2024 selected by the Editors at C&EN. Please vote if you like it. Thank you! Fraser Stoddart Northwestern Chemistry HKU Chemistry UNSW Science Zhejiang University cen.acs.org/sections/moty-…
