If a model is fitted to results it shouldn't be described the same way as a predictive model. It is an inference. Saves time for readers who are looking to replicate the model, and gives credit to models which really are predictions!

This new Data Insight, led by Dr Yu Tang, explores the environmental and physiological signals in boreal tree resin acid d13C and d18O. There are interesting, but conditional, links between resin acid isotopes and soil water potential. doi.org/10.1111/pce.15
