Second day of my trip and second talk and then acting as an external examiner, this time in Hasselt. Second really bright PhD to defend. This time celebrations included cocktails and food from a fryolator with of course fries with mayo. Thanks to Wouter Maes for hosting.

As it was a sunny evening I made beef kofta and grilled zucchini and married it up with a dill and mint yogurt sauce, pickled onions, a tomato and radish salad and a green salad. Served with some pita. #chemistswhocook.

Tonight on a breezy warm and sunny evening I decided to go Central American. I made black beans sprinkled with some feta (no cotija), Mexican rice, guacamole, seared seasoned chicken thighs and green beans with lime. #chemistswhocook.

Yesterday, we had all sorts of weather. It included a heavy haar and a very quiet West Sands. Later there was oodles of sun, but look at the ominous clouds.

Great to be back in my hometown, and what better meal after a long plane ride than a smoked meat, fries and coleslaw from the Snowdon deli.

Got to catch up with Muralee Murugesu over steak frites at Quebec institution L’Entrecôte St Jean. After all these years, still serving the same, satisfying meal.

It was special to celebrate Father’s Day with my dad. The highlight was an oak smoked steak and finished in the bbq. Served with grilled asparagus, mushrooms and fingerling potatoes.
