Nice non-technical summary of our recent AER paper: aeaweb.org/articles?id=10…. Policy punchlines: (1) investments in hospital infrastructure pay off in short- and long-run; (2) current disinvestments in hospitals should be closely scrutinized (e.g., nytimes.com/2022/12/09/hea…)

In AEA Journals AER, @Ajhollingsworth, Krzysztof Karbownik, Thomasson & Anthony Wray show that hospital modernization 1927-1942 in disproportionately rural & Black North Carolina reduced infant & long-run mortality, w/ larger effects for Black residents. aeaweb.org/articles?id=10…

Thanks for the Italian coverage of our paper: nber.org/papers/w32429. Important in the context of growing diversity and inequality in many countries.

We posted full publicly available Numident data that we used in our AER paper. So instead of paying thousands of $$$ you can just download it at price of citing our paper and repository.

Super happy to see this published in Journal of Public Economics. Complementary work to our Norwegian paper: jhr.uwpress.org/content/early/… with AlineButikofer, Rita Ginja and @FannyLandaud . Now we're building global evidence on intergenerational transmission of health

If you like the outdoors then this is one of the best jobs in the country. I spent a few months in the interior of Alaska and it was awesome. And if you're tired of winter then Hawaii is not that far away...

New research out: positive participation and competitive effects of EdChoice vouchers for college attendance and graduation. Participation effects compared to remaining in underperforming public school. Competitive compared to schools that just missed voucher threat.

New paper out: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…. We study (using DiD) effect of 1968 Poor People's Campaign on election results. Overall these peaceful protests had no effect on elections (contrasting prior civil rights era findings) but they hurt Ds in the South & helped them in the West
