1/6 A few days ago, I cried for the first time in a long time. It was a few days after the video of Mr. Floyd being killed started circulating on social media. My wife had not watched it, and the first protests were beginning. I know her, so I would describe the video instead.

2/6 And that was when it happened. I recounted in general terms what was in the video as not to "upset her," and I got to the part where Mr. Floyd called out, "Mama, Mama, I can't," and that is where I lost it.

3/6 My throat tightened up, and my eyes started to water. All the emotions that were bottled up, the repressed fear, the staunch "man of the house", fell away. This was a 6-foot 4-inch man uttering his last words and calling for his "mama."

4/6 His mother had already passed and is no longer living. I pondered. Was he calling out to the one person who had given him life as his life is slipping away? Or is he seeing her as his spirit is leaving him?

5/6 What level of depravity did this creature, resting calmly, possess? I can't comprehend how he was so casual about taking another man's life. While others are screaming, "Your f**king killing him!" And why is he allowed to serve in the law enforcement community?

6/6 I grew up in the Rap Era, so I am reminded of a song by Scarface with the lyrics, "I Never Seen a Man Cry, 'Til I Seen a Man Die." I don't want to cry again any time soon.
