This argument only stacks up if you don’t live in the north! Fast, high speed connectivity would transform productivity and the ability to do business in the same way the Elizabeth Line and Eurostar have transformed rail travel for Londoners #HS2 #HS3 Financial Times on.ft.com/3ZGT0eV

This is why we must not scrap #NetZero goals. Global warming is happening far faster and with greater intensity than we predicted. Unless we act faster, our homes and businesses will be uninsurable by 2050 ICC United Kingdom Financial Times International Chamber of Commerce on.ft.com/3PNu5Sa

Interesting. The UK is doing the opposite. Opening coal mines and north sea gas fields rather than scaling up investment in innovation and #green energy solutions #NetZero #unsustainable Financial Times ICC United Kingdom on.ft.com/3F2ocf5

Another 8% or so are citizens moving back to the UK. Again not ‘migrants’. Those are people like you or I who have every right to go where we like. We aren’t migrants! ICC United Kingdom

Most illegal migrants are legitimate refugees who have every right to seek a safe haven. People we have a duty to protect and support as a civil society ICC United Kingdom

That leaves a tiny proportion who are illegal and exploiting the rules. Lets get that group in proportion. Are we saying this group is more important than the economy or cost of living crisis? ICC United Kingdom

Ask most people, and surveys say they have no issue with migrants because people know we need labour to run our public services and the economy ICC United Kingdom

I would suggest we focus our energy on fixing the economy and removing trade barriers. The things that will help pay for the things we all want ICC United Kingdom

Anyone who knows anything about immigration knows you don't get in a flimsy dinghy to cross the Channel and risk your life unless you are desperate for a better life. The same people who are likely to be hard working and entrepreneurial ie people we want and need! ICC United Kingdom

By the way, 2nd generation immigrant children are often the highest performers in school. The question we should be asking ourselves is why we aren't better supporting kids from long-term unemployed families who are more often than not local ICC United Kingdom
