Dentists treat pain daily, but not all types of pain are the same. Persistent pain is common and needs to be recognised and managed for what it is. My opinion piece in the latest British Dental Journal with colleagues Emma Beecroft and Justin Durham nature.com/articles/s4141…

"Our safety is tied up in one another's." Rabbi Rabbi Sharon Brous visited protests on both Columbia and UCLA campuses, and reflects on what she saw and "how to build a just and shared future." Watch our full conversation.

What an engaging and highly informative Footsteps Festival journal club we had last night led by ɹǝʇlnoԀ pıʌɐᗡ 🚴🏻 🇺🇸 🇦🇺 🇬🇧 with a presentation followed by very lively debate.

What a fantastic #InsightsNCL lecture by James Allison from NCL Dental School explaining how his research gave dental practices the confidence to open up again following closures during national lockdowns.

👀 FYI Journal Club is not happening in June - as our founders chris penlington & Niki 🏴 decided to go out on the town instead! We will be back in July, come along to while away the time talking pain science (4th July 😬) especially if you are staying up all night!! 💅❌

Look what's happening at NCL Dental School Newcastle Med School tomorrow! The wonderful Niki 🏴 speaking about how to work with patient partners and what we all gain when we get it right 😎

Really looking forward to Footsteps Festival journal club this evening. Gemma from Newcastle Psychology will be presenting her research about adding active methods of learning to education about pain. All welcome and free for everyone!

Great to see recognition of the impact of one of the first student research projects I supervised at NCL Dental School
