It’s my great fortune to have met Karthish Manthiram as my advisor. I can feel that Karthish always look out for his students with all his heart. I believe students at Caltech are blessed to have Karthish as their mentor now!

Our new preprint (Manthiram Lab), with co-authors Aditya Limaye, Trent, Minju Chung, & Karthish Manthiram, is now up on ChemRxiv! chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxi… We show the importance of accounting for thermodynamic nonidealities in electrochemical kinetic studies! A tweetorial 🧵... 1/16

Our new preprint on SEI in lithium-mediated ammonia synthesis is up on ChemRxiv! This is a collab between the Li group UCLA Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering & Manthiram Lab, with co-authors Xintong Yuan, Nik, Channing Klein, Karthish Manthiram, & Yuzhang Li 李煜章. chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxi… A tweetorial 🧵... 1/11

New preprint up at ChemRxiv! Katherine Steinberg et al. (in collab w/ amazing group of Yuzhang Li 李煜章 at UCLA Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering) used a variety of surface techniques - most notably cryo-EM - to probe the mechanism of electrochemical nitrogen reduction to ammonia using lithium.

Check out our newest paper in ACSEnergyLett! Zachary J Schiffer et al. report on the use of ammonium formate as a safe, solid energy carrier, achieving excellent faradaic efficiencies at both the anode and cathode. #ionicliquid pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

Swing by the Roman Group presentations at #AIChE2022 this week! American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)

Propylene + H2O -> propylene oxide + H2 Electrified at room temprature, ambient pressure, aqueous electrolyte, and with fast rates. Overcomes longstanding safety and environmental challenges. Check it out! Science Magazine science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

In a paper appearing in the journal Science, Professor Karthish Manthiram 's lab (Manthiram Lab) describes the development of a catalyst for producing a widely used chemical feedstock without the toxic and dangerous chemicals normally required for its production. cce.caltech.edu/news-and-event…

Grateful to Moore Foundation for support of our research on electrified synthesis of epoxides! Thankful to Manthiram Lab members who did pioneering work in this space including Kyoungsuk Jin, Minju Chung, @ChenyuJ98, Jason Adams, Kalipada Koner and many others. moore.org/article-detail…

Woohoo! Congrats to our own Minju Chung and the rest of the awardees on receiving the WIC Travel Award!!

Curious about how alkenes epoxidize on electrodes? Our new Open Access J. Am. Chem. Soc. paper demonstrates that alkenes react with O*, derived from electrochemical H2O activation, on Au anodes to form epoxides. Check it out here: doi.org/10.1021/jacs.4…
